i am brought back to a many visits to hawaii when i was younger and the sugar cane factories made the air thick and awful smelling. How once we toured one with my 4’11” filipino grandmother and the guide was using a machete to give us a taste. My lola couldn’t bear to watch his clumsy hacking and took the machete from him. He was so worried the small old lady was going to hurt herself but then we saw the side of her that was a ninja!
